Kaya remains unbeaten in Iloilo

Kaya FC – Iloilo successfully defended their home turf for the second time around after notching a 2-1 victory against Davao Aguilas FC at the Iloilo Sports Complex last Saturday, 2 June 2018.

Filipino standouts Kenshiro Daniels and Jovin Bedic stepped up their game to bring Kaya Iloilo to their second-straight victory over Davao Aguilas to improve their record to 22 points on seven wins, a draw and just three losses.

James Younghusband scored the lone tally for the Aguilas, who remained at the No. 3 spot of the standings with 14 points on four wins, two draws and five losses.

It was a slow-starting match between the two clubs but Kaya Iloilo managed to wake up from the scoring slumber in the 51st minute with Daniels finding the back of the net from beyond the box to give their side a 1-0 advantage.

However, the Aguilas went on the attack and was rewarded with the equalizing goal by J. Younghusband via a header in the 71st minute.

Kaya Iloilo came back with the game winning strike just a few minutes after following Bedic’s 75th minute header from deep inside the box of their foes off a corner taken by teammate Miguel Tanton.

Meanwhile, JPV Marikina FC held league leaders Ceres Negros FC to a 1-1 stalemate at the Binan Football Stadium.

Despite the draw, Ceres Negros remained on top of the standings with eight wins, a draw and a loss for a total of 25 points while JPV Marikina landed on the No. 4 spot with 10 points on a 3-1-7 win-draw-loss card.

Japanese striker Ryuki Kozawa gave Marikina the lead with a breakaway strike in the 56th minute while Patrick Reichelt leveled the score for the Busmen with a goal in the 69th minute.
