Kaya Iloilo hands Ceres Negros first loss

Kaya FC – Iloilo took down unbeaten squad Ceres Negros FC following their 2-0 victory at the Panaad Park and Stadium in Bacolod on Saturday, 12 May 2018.

The club from Iloilo relied on an early blitz to hand the reigning Philippines Football League (PFL) champions their first loss in six games.

Robert Lopez Mendy opened the scoring for Kaya with a strike in the 10th minute followed by the shot by Alfred Osei in the 40th minute to place their club up by two goals going into the break.

Kaya FC goalkeeper Ace Villanueva also stepped up his game during his club’s win, saving a shot by Bienvenido Maranon from the penalty spot in the 20th minute while also keeping the attack of the Busmen at bay throughout the match.

With the win, Kaya Iloilo now lands at the second spot of the league stadings with four wins, a draw and two losses for a total of 13 points while Ceres Negros still holds the top spot with 15 points on five wins and a loss.
