Ceres Negros registers second straight win

Philippines Football League (PFL) Titleholders Ceres Negros FC registered their second straight victory after defeating JPV Marikina FC, 3-0, at the Rizal Memorial Football Stadium on 14 April.

With the win, the Busmen took over the provisional top spot of the league rankings with a record of six points and a six goal advantage on goal difference against close second seeds JPV Marikina, who also has six points.

Former JPV forward Takumi Uesato starred for the club from Bacolod with a two goal haul in the first half after finding the back of the net in the 13th and 31st minutes.

Spanish Striker Bienvenido Marano also managed to get on the scorecard for Ceres Negros with a strike of his own in the 64th minute of their lopsided affair.

Meanwhile, Stallion Laguna FC relied on a late game rally to fend off Kaya FC, 3-1, at the Binan Football Stadium.

Despite being down by a goal at halftime following the goal of Kaya skipper Miguel Tanton in the 16th minute, Stallion Laguna managed to reassert their offense in the second half and clinch the victory.

Carlo Polli opened the scoring for the Stallions from the penalty spot in the 56th minute followed by strikes by Jesus Joaquin Melliza and Fitch Arboleda late in the match.

Consequently, Global Cebu FC and Davao Aguilas FC settled for a 2-2 stalemate in their meeting at the Binan Football Stadium on Sunday, 15 April.

Davao Aguilas were quick on their feet to steal the early goal through the conversions of Phil Younghusband and Harrison Sawyer in the 20th and 43rd minutes, respectively.

However, Global Cebu was able to come back before the end of regulations with the goals of Darryl Roberts in the 67th minute and Wesley Dos Santos in the 89th minute.
