17 May Ceres Negros clip berth to ASEAN Zone Finals

Ceres Negros FC earned their berth to the ASEAN Zone Finals of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Cup after defeating Yangon United FC of Myanmar, 6-5 on aggregate, in their two-game semifinals series.
Despite being slapped with a 3-2 loss in the second leg of their affair at the Thuwanna Stadium in Myanmar last 16 May 2018, the Busmen still managed to emerged victorious following their impressive 4-2 victory in front of their home crowd in Bacolod during the first leg.
Philippine National Football Team standout Manuel Ott opened the scoring for Ceres Negros with a shot in the 8th minute while Spanish striker Bienvenido Maranon added a goal of his own in the 78th minute before being sent off with a straight red card in the 81st minute.
Yangon immediately asserted their mastery of their home field with a quick strike in the 2nd minute courtesy of Kousuke Uchida followed the consecutive goals of Aee Soe in the 83rd and Sekou Sylla in the 87th minute.
A total of eight cards were handed to host club Yangon United including the red card of Emmanuel Uzochukwu in the 83rd minute while Ceres Negros garnered a total of five bookings during the heated match-up.
Current Philippines Football League and AFC Cup ASEAN Zone Champions Ceres Negros are set to meet Singapore’s Home United FC for the Zonal Finals of the continental club football competition.
