Match Preview: Ceres Negros FC vs Kaya FC Makati

Second-placed Kaya FC Makati look to tighten the gap over FC Meralco Manila when they face the streaking Ceres Negros FC in Saturday’s 7:00 PM kickoff at the Pana-ad Park and Stadium in Bacolod, Negros Occidental.

Kaya gained a massive boost before the international break after beating Meralco, 2-1, last 30 September, to extend their winning streak to three games. Forward Eric Giganto rose to the occasion with a 90th minute winner to reduce the gap between the rivals to just three points.

However, Kaya will be tested anew against Ceres, who are on a two game winning streak.

Kaya coach Noel Marcaida is aware of the challenge of facing Ceres in Pana-ad.

“It’s always difficult to play Ceres, especially on their home turf,” said Marcaida. “I can see that the players are very motivated, and everyone is looking forward to playing Ceres.”

Ceres are going to the match wounded once more after news broke that midfielder Manny Ott will be sidelined after incurring a knee injury in Qatar for the national team.

“As we’ve done in the past, we’ll come up with solutions,” said Ceres skipper Martin Steuble. “I think with the depth of our squad, we are able to find replacements. With a few adjustments, we’ll be able to beat a strong opponent in Kaya.”

The match will be shown live on
