01 Oct Report: Ceres Negros FC 5-0 Ilocos United FC
Ceres Negros FC put on a five-star performance to defeat a shorthanded Ilocos United FC side, 5-0, last Saturday in the Philippines Football League at the Pana-ad Park and Stadium in Bacolod, Negros Occidental.
Stephan Schröck continued his scoring feat with two goals, including an audacious effort in the 41st minute. Bienvenido Marañon, Fernando Rodriguez, and Carlie De Murga also provided the goals in the rout.
The result elevated Ceres to third place with 35 points, nine points behind leaders FC Meralco Manila, going to the international break.
Marañon, who also had a hat-trick of assists, started the rout with a fifth minute opener. The forward sent a shot through the legs of Baba Sampana and in.
Rodriguez doubled the lead in the 19th minute after a neat work by Marañon following Arnie Pasinabo’s cross to the box.
De Murga headed Marañon’s cross to go 3-0 up at the half-hour mark before Schröck delighted the 3,000 plus in attendance with another wonder goal right before half-time. The midfielder fired from a tight angle and in to the top-left orner.
Schröck scored his second, and the match’s fifth, with fifteen minutes left in the match. The midfielder was released by Marañon and rounded out Sampana before firing the shot.
